PostHeaderIcon Season Half Way Done

Tonight.  LeBron Kobe .  ‘Nuff said.

The last time these two teams met, Kobe scored more than LeBron, but the Cavs handed the Lakers a backyard beat down to the tenth degree.  And I … enjoyed every minute of it.  The game happen to fall on Christmas Day, and I treated the Cavs victory like a present from the NBA.  Thank you.

But … the NBA award to super-stars in the making, but Durant is worthy of this award.  How he’s raised the level of his play within the first three years of his career is truly remarkable.  Most of thought he’d be good, but man … he’s good.  Of course it’s not just him, Russell Westbrook has been solid at the point, averaging 7.5 assists per game and Jeff Green, despite his recent struggles, has been a reliable contributor on both ends.  The Thunder, along with the Grizzlies and now maybe the Bobcats, are teams you might not want to run into in the first round of the playoffs.

Speaking of the Grizzlies and Bobcats, hats off to them too.  When you think about Memphis, they are one point guard away from perhaps having the best starting five in basketball.  No knock on Conley, but he isn’t exactly mesmerizing with his play.  But, I guess he doesn’t have to be when you have Mayo, Gay, Randolph and Gasol in the lineup along side of you.  The Grizzlies have been one of the hottest teams in the league since the turn of the decade, and are just one and a half games back from the eighth seed in the West.

Larry Brown is at it again.  This is why I’ll take Larry Brown over Phil Jackson in a heart beat.  Larry Brown has never had a Michael Jordan/Scottie Pippen tandem.  Or a Shaq and Kobe duo.  His super star in Charlotte is Gerald Wallace .  Now Gerald Wallace is damn good, and...

How do you start a good kids novel story?

Well, I'm trying to start a great tween/kids novel story just for fun and I don't know how to start it. I'm being imaginative as possible but I can't think of something GREAT! Please give some good sentence starters and maybe some story plot suggestions.

One way to start writing a good story is to look through magazines/catalogues etc and find some pictures of people, places, things, scenes etc. Cut them out and glue them on a large sheets of paper. Label one "Characters" another "places" another "things" As you find pictures you will eventually begin thinking about the people you have chosen. you will probably have to get rid of some - but it will be a good place to start. As you think of ideas for a "story line" you might think about things that could happen in the scenes you have chosen for inspiration. The best stories are usually stories that you know already. Stories that are "loosely" based on something that has really happened usually make interesting reading because it is unique and you can talk about it. For example, use your crazy uncle as a character - or your sweet grandma - Don't worry too much about "sentence starters" just start writing. You can go back later and fix it up to make it better. Good luck writing your story. Most authors who write - do it because they love to. Nobody every starts writing thinking, "I'm going to make a million dollars" - Just look at JK Rowling. She used to write on napkins - when she ran out of paper. Good luck!
